What is Science Olympiad?

Science Olympiad is a national non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of K-12 science education, increasing interest in science, and creating a technologically-literate workforce. At Pacific Sky, Science Olympiad is a PTA program run by a committee of parent and student volunteers. Teams of 15 students compete in 23 academic events in groups of 2-3 students per event. Pacific Sky competes in the B Division, which is the Middle School Division including grades 4-8. Students start the year in mid-September with lots of learning and exploration, with invitational competitions starting in December and official competitions starting in February. Competitions are held on Saturdays and are in the San Diego area.

SciOly at Pacific Sky

SciOly at Pacific Sky is a volunteer run program .The program is funded by parent donations.Each event will have a 60-90 min. class each week and additional time outside of class to prepare binders and cheat sheets, practice with teammates, and more. A team of 15 students participate in 23 events.Upto 2 teams of 15 students each will compete at Regional level and only 1 team of 15 students will complete at state level if they qualify at regionals
